I read my friend’s text messages

I am so ashamed. I had a conversation with my friend about a friend of hers that I dated briefly. I did not believe what she said that he had said, and when she went to the bathroom, I read her text messages from him. I was right, because she did lie (but she said kind things).

But I discovered she was talking about me behind my back, and while she was not really mean, she was a little mean. She did not mean for me to see it, but now I am embarrassed and I don’t trust her. I think she talks about me behind my back.
