Altruism retracted
Posted by Julia in Regret on May 19th, 2008 | 2 commentsI live near a large metropolitan hospital, and as I was striding past yesterday, I noticed a very frail old man in a wheel chair. He was poised to try to cross the road, but I could see that it would take him hours. I stopped, turned back and asked him if he would like help. I slowly wheeled him in front of the traffic, but as we neared the other side, he started yelling at me. It was at that point I wish I had left him to try on his own. Altruism retracted.

there are times you just can’t please everybody…. you do something nice for other people but others consider it as nothing! don’t take it all heart! you know better… we need patience for our elders… he must’ve had a bad day or something…. the fact that you came back to him and helped him is a wonderful deed!
you should have left him in the middle of the road.
