I’m a mocha colored Hispanic woman, and proud of it. That being said, I’m also an equal opportunity dater. I believe that a person falls in love with a person’s soul, not the shell it is encased in.

It really upsets me when people say you shouldn’t date a person of another race because they think they are better than you or they have suppressed your ancestors. I get it from some ignorant people too.

I always reply that I do not listen to racist talk, and that if racism is going to end, I have to do my part. Not dating somebody SOLELY because they are of another race and the attached misconceptions (regardless of what color you are) is racist.

When is the hatred going to end? Wake up people. Learn to accept others for what they are not what they look like. This goes out to people of all color.

The greatest thing perhaps about attraction is that it transcends boundaries, ethnic, political, social or otherwise. If you like white guys than you should pursuit white guys. It’s not racist, it’s not a betrayel, it’s a preference.

I’m “black” and I prefer white boys, too. In my mind, when it comes to looks, they’re just more handsome/cute/whatever. And when it comes to personality, it has a lot to do with the fact that I rarely hang out with anyone who isn’t white or an oreo, like me, and so I don’t see black guys as being the type of people that feed my intrest.

In any event, it really doesn’t matter. Like who you like, go out with who you want to go out with. And if people have an issue with it, you can either let it get to you one way or another, or let it slide completely. Your friends shouldn’t care who you like if it doesn’t put you in danger.

Hey. my parents are an interracial couple. My father his black, my mother is white. Im more on the white side, and my sibling are more on the black side.

Well. We all know there is nothing wrong with interracial couples. Actually, the opposite has been shown to be true. For instance, my parents had to put up with alot of crap for being an interracial couple in rural Kansas. It wasnt always easy, and the hardship and standing together strengthened their relationship.

Not only that, but biracial children have been shown to be more sensitive to social issues, and express greater concern for social wellbeing of individuals and social systems(more empathetic).

So, while its not always easy being an interracial couple, it can create powerful, long lasting bonds. Plus my family reunions are very colorful.
