You spend so much time around them, you admire them for their intelligence. They seem so perfect and wonderful. I am a graduate student and I even dated my professor once. But it ended soon after. The age difference is a big factor, and soon you learn that they are human beings as well. Flawed like you and me and that the wisdom they possess is not infinite and the constraints associated with secretly dating someone in the academic sphere are too much to handle. Like I said, it is natural to be in love with them, but try to remember he is married and it can never be. Try to find a single young professor, if he is the type you are attracted to. I have heard of many cases where a student ends up marring her advisor. There is nothing wrong with loving a strong, intelligent admirable man. But remember you cannot act on it. If things go wrong, this man can ruin your career. Find someone you do not immediately work with. It is normal for you to have a crush on your professors.
