I have fake accounts on social media to lurk people’s pages.

I’m a 20 year old male. I have a fake page for Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and Snapchat. For my fake pages, I have
no pictures, I have a made-up name, and I just upload random profile pictures of anything. I make these pages to lurk people’s lives. I’ve been doing this for five years now.
I mostly lurk people who I went and go to school with. I just like to see what they do with their lives. No one knows I have these fake accounts.
I don’t want to make a real account of myself because I have no life. I would have nothing to post. But, I still want to see the lives of the people I go/went to school with, so I have these fake accounts instead.
I don’t talk to any of them, I just lurk.
I’ve thought about deleting my fake pages, but I’m so reluctant to do that because I want to stay connected with these people.

  1. Try making your own account and add those people.
It’s a better way to stay in contact with them rather than ‘lurking’.

  2. Why don’t you just make a real account and not post? I’ve had an Instagram account for years and I only ever like and comment. My friends and I send each other posts and sometimes text on it. You can stay connected like that, too. Social media isn’t only for people who want to post– it’s for staying in touch!

  3. Sounds fairly harmless to me. I wouldn’t worry about it. If I were you, I would continue to lurk on their social media with fake accounts to learn the secrets of their success, and apply that to your own life. Then, after you are more successful, you won’t feel ashamed to have a regular account, and interact with them.
