I think what you are asking is one of the fundamental human predicaments, especially for those of us who live in a culture so engraved on the value of individualism vs social identity and feeling comfortable with your place in the whole scheme of things. So, my advice is, find out what it is that you are seeking. Is it approval, praise, love? And once you determine this ask yourself why you feel the need to gain this. If you can take that frustrated energy and put it into something that makes you feel good, whether that is just simply going outside and feeling reconnected with nature, I think you will begin to feel much better. Try not to focus so much on individualism and ask yourself what is in your power to achieve and then let yourself feel good for any accomplishment you make. You don't need to be the best in life; no one will ever solve world hunger or bring about world peace, but we can each make our own contribution.

As far as feeling satisfied in relationships goes though... I have the same problem; my friends call me the queen of the 3-4 monther, and even though I've been in one for over a year now I am not satisfied and wonder if I ever will be but I'm a whore when I'm single because I crave the companionship. So, just know that your thoughts aren't completely weird and you're not alone.
