It’s no one’s fault. He just didn’t know who he was until now
It is not your fault! I dated a couple of guys that I really liked (in my 20s) who I later found out were gay. In my 30s I married a guy I had been friends with for a long time before we dated. His mother used to think he was gay because he is a very kind, sensitive musician.! I realize now that is the type of guy I was attracted to. There *are* nice straight guys out there; I found him once I stopped dating pretty boys! And I know you didn’t ask, but the sex is great and we have been married for 13 years!
It’s not your fault. Read the book “Can’t Think Straight” by Kiri Blakely. It’s very sarcastic, and unfortunately it chronicles her wild behavior after finding out the same thing about her fiance, but it covers the emotions of this type of heartbreak pretty well.
