Decision
I’ve been in a job since last May. At first I liked it very much and was very enthused as it was my first job. But after they fired the operations manager everything took a turn for the worst. People often talked about resigning and I immediately started seeking another job. I did a couple of interviews and after about three months one called yesterday saying I got the job. I am so happy. But I feel a bit heavy inside because a lot of ppl have been resigning. I feel bad for leaving. The worst thing is I go on vacation as of tomorrow. I havent handed in my resignation letter as yet. I dont know what to do.

I am in the same situation right now. But I have been with my company for 3 years. My company is a sinking ship though. They have been losing clients quite a bit lately. I have been working trying to get the job I was just offered for four months now. Worst part is, my new job is with one of our current clients and when I go over there, my current employer will lose a big account since I will be doing the same thing but directly for the company. I go on vacation for a week starting tomorrow. And I haven’t turned in my notice either. It seems tacky, but at least this way I get more vacation time this year. I feel bad because of loyalty to my current employer, they started me out in this business, but the way I look at it is that you have to take care of yourself. No one else will. This is business yes, but it is your life. You have to better yourself and do what’s right for you. After a little bit with your new job, you will forget all about your current job and they will forget about you. Do what is right. For you.

It may sound cold, but just move on. Just handle the departure in a professional manner so as not to burn future references. It will all be behind you soon enough.

Trust me, your job will not miss you. They care about them money you bring in, but if you leave they will find a replacement. It is not your fault that so many people have been resigning. It is the fault of your current employer. People start businesses, and businesses fail. That’s life. If your company fails, it is not your fault. Remember, you are not the only one resigning.
Put in your letter of resignation and enjoy your vacation.
