I am a bully

when I was little, I used to bully this kid. I don’t know why I bullied him, but I would make fun of him, call him names, and I even ripped a sticker he had in half(we were little and he loved stickers I think). I just remember all these horrible things I did to him and I hate my self for it. I want to do something to make up for what I did but I don’t know what. I cant go back and tell him I’m sorry because I moved away so I don’t know what I should do. This is my question for you: What should I do to atone for what I did?

  1. If the worst thing you did to your friend was rip a sticker in two I bet he might not even remember it. But give him a call and apologize and then you won’t be tripping about it.

  2. Just be a better person in your life now. I can think of a lot of things I did that I regret but can’t change. I keep this quote with me:
“To laugh often and much; To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; To appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; To know that even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.”

  3. Sometimes making peace to yourself is the way to go. Sometimes it’s pointless to track a childhood kid just to apologize, as the damage is done. Best thing you should do is bury your old self, and be a better person in the present and future

  4. Atone by forgiving yourself and vowing to never harm anyone else ever. You can also make a donation to a child safety organization in your area.
Also good of you to realize that what you did long ago was wrong.

  5. Send him a funny but honest card that says “I really love you and I’m sorry I was mean” and send him a bunch of weird stickers so he will laugh…

  6. The same thing happened to me in grammar school I was blamed alot for things I never did and got into alot of trouble for it. Years later, I am in my late 40’s now I was approached by a woman asking me if I was so and so. I said yes, She said, I have apologize for the way I treated you when we were kids. I asked her why?? ( I already knew but loved playing stupid) and she responded for things I blames you for and had nothing to do with. It must have bothered her for years because I forgot about it. She told me that her father never let her forget it over the years and spokes so kindly of me until he passed away. I guess she felt better about it and Im glad she apologized because at the time it happened it wasnt very pleasant for me. Your only recourse is to find him and apologize or buy him a drink or a meal.

  7. It’s hard to tell..I was bullied by the girls in school, but I have moved on from it and I wouldn’t want them contacting me to apologise now..I’ve made my peace with the past and have moved on. I obviously have some damage from it, but again, I’ve moved on. This may not be the case for everyone tho so it’s hard to say what to do. Maybe find out from a friend how they are doing with their life now.

  8. Track him down, apologize to him and see if he has any issues from getting bullied. Then try to help him solve those problems.

I was bullied a lot too in school and had a lot of psychological problems from it for a decade after this, like low self-esteem, depression and nearly committed suicide.
