My mother died from alchoholism and I have a hard time having just one. 99% of anything stupid I ever did was alchohol related. I now limit myself to two drinks or if I’m at a bar, I have a glass of water after each drink. You have to want to stop, if you don’t, then you won’t. It takes will power!!

I was a top boozer myself some time back. I did drinking from morning to evening and long into the night. I continued this on weekend and most of the time did not go to work on Mondays. But I stopped it. Take my example. This is how you can stop it. Firstly save your precious drinking moment until evening. Do little physical activity such as little house hold work etc to keep yourself occupied during the day. Think of drinking in the evening and enjoy that pleasurable moment in your mind. Keep it postponed until very late in the evening. After doing physical activity during whole day you could refresh by a long comfortable bath. Then have dinner. Then start drinking by focusing your mind on yourself. Don’t get drunk – keep your mind focused. When you feel asleep go to bed. Within few days you will be able to sleep without drinking.

Good for you for reconizing you have a problem. It takes great courage for one to admit they have a problem. Alot of people have this problem, and you must know you are not alone. Do this. Buy a cheap calender and pin it up somewhere you are in your home/apartment etc. alot. Then circle a date on the calender in the month you are in of when you want to stop drinking. Start putting X’s on each days of when you did not drink. Also buy a piggy bank. This is your “Good decisions” bank. Each day you do not drink put a doller inside. Then if you reached the date you circled empty your “Good decisions” bank and go and buy something with your money. This is your Good decisions gift. Now each month you can look forward to that reward of buying something new if you do not drink. My friend has done this and instead she saved her money each month and bought a t.v!
